Dorothea Bush Frye was born in Washington, DC in 1954. She completed her primary education in Potomac, MD, where she has lived most of her life. Afterwards, she attended the University of South Carolina, and then returned to the area in 1973, to earn an Associate Degree from The International Institute of Interior Design, in Washington DC.
Early work experience included both retail and banking. In 1982, she resigned from her position at Standard Federal Savings and Loan, where she was an escrow analyst, and a court liaison for the Vice President of Loan Services, in order to be a full time mother.
She has raised two children, now both in their twenties. During their school years she was an active volunteer in their schools ranging from reading to kindergartners to acting as chairperson for annual fundraising events. She also volunteered at her church by teaching Sunday school for several years and working on various church charity projects.
Recently she has developed her own small business decorating commercial offices and stores for the holidays. She is also actively involved in another family owned business in banking.
She has a passion for children and for helping others and heads up all of the fundraising efforts for the Divine Child Foundation.
