Christmas/New Year’s Celebration at Saguramo

Gil and I just spent the day with the kids celebrating the coming of the New Year. We spent the morning stuffing 48 stockings with candy and gifts for the kids and then the evening and early morning partying with the kids. It was so much fun and heart warming to be with them. The kids share their love so freely it so good for the soul to share time with them. I love them all so dearly. Thanks everyone for all your support!

Tsilkani Children’s Home Opens December 27

After months of planning and preparation, The Divine Child Foundation is making the final arrangements to welcome the first six children into the Tsilkani Children’s Home on December 27.  By the middle of January, we will be caring for twenty children in two homes.

Each child has a different story and unique challenges, but all share an experience of abandonment and insecurity.  We are committed to creating a warm, hospitable and stable environment that will be both a home for them to grow in, and a launching pad for their adulthood.  Our ten-year management contract will give us enough time to make a difference, and our caring and dedicated Director, Lali Tsertsvadze, will take the lead in shaping the character of the homes, with much support from Irma Barbakadze, our Georgian foundation representative.

A New Era for Divine Child Foundation

The Divine Child Foundation has won a competition and will soon be awarded a contract by the government of Georgia to run two small orphanages near Tbilisi.

Since 2007, Divine Child Foundation has been making a real and tangible difference in the lives of the children at the Saguramo orphanage by supplementing the efforts of the Georgian state-run program. Now we’re taking the next step.

We need your help!

Of the $12.50 per day required for basic food, clothing, and shelter for each child, the Georgian government provides a little more than 9 dollars. This will only partially cover

      • caretaker and staff salaries
      • food and clothing
      • home maintenance and utilities
      • school books, sporting equipment, toys
      • and everything else the children need to survive on a day-to-day basis.

Help us fill the gap and provide books, shoes, clothing, and maybe even toys.   An additional $3.50 per day for each child will enable us to run these two Children’s Homes at a modest but comfortable level, with second helpings at dinner, a few clothes and toys that aren’t hand-me-downs, and some educational enrichment opportunities including internet access.

You can help with a one-time or recurring donation.  Spread the word to friends and family.  Share us on social media sites.  Sign up for our newsletter to keep in touch.

Twenty children will be arriving before Christmas. With your help, we can welcome them into real homes.
